The police are pursuing a man seen in a trending video mercilessly beating up his eight-year-old son at a home in Nakuru County.

They identified the man as Kenneth Otieno and said he had gone into hiding with the son after learning that he was being trailed.

"He disappeared with the young boy in the wee hours of (Saturday) morning, moments before our detectives knocked at his door in Nakuru," the DCI reported via X, formerly Twitter, lauding Kenyans who volunteered information.

The DCI shared a post by the Kenya Police Service, which has appealed to the public for help locating the man so that he is arrested and investigated and the boy rescued.

In the video that has elicited public uproar online in the last few days, Otieno is seen beating up the boy using what appears to be a rubber rod and is overheard telling him that he would not continue being a nuisance to him.

He then pushes the minor to a couch and forcefully strips him half-naked while slapping and caning him.

All this while, a woman in the background, believed to be the boy's mother, pleads in vain for the man to let the boy go.

"He has heard you. You will injure him. You have beaten him more than enough," the woman is heard saying.

The man then drags the boy to an adjacent couch, sits down, and holds him by the neck as he canes him all over the body.

The boy complains that he is running out of breath but the father ignores his pleas.

Moments later, the boy is released to the floor while being beaten and his voice starts fading away. He drags himself to one of the rooms but the man grabs him by his hoodie and strangles him as he continues beating him.

The boy runs towards the mother but the father follows him while beating him. He pulls him back to the same location and continues beating him before ordering him to go and sleep.

The crying minor is seen limping to one of the rooms at the end of the video, which lasts 4 minutes and 47 seconds.
